East Waterloo sophomore Kerris Roberts can now claim to the best the fastest Iowa girl of all-time.

Roberts ran 24.09 seconds in the 200-meter prelims and 24.21 in the finals – both performances faster than the 1975 all-time state best held by Debbie Esser of Woodbine for 42 years (24.24c).

Roberts also holds the all-conditions best in the 100 with the 11.69 (2.8w) that she ran in the state prelims at Drake Stadium. She ran 11.88 into a slight headwind in the final. She also powered her team to the state title in the 4x100 relay (48.00).

Junior Peyton Wensel of Linn-Mar won the 400 meters in 54.84 seconds and she was also second in the 400 hurdles. Freshman Mackenzie Michael of Cedar Falls edged out junior Lily Campbell from Waukee in the 800, 2:11.54 to 2:11.78.

In the Class 4A boys hurdle races, Joah Banks of Cedar Rapids Prairie ran 13.98 to win the 110-meter highs after 13.91 in the prelims. Nathan Hoy of Cedar Falls ran 52.57 to win the 400 hurdles.

Ryan Murphy of Linn-Mar ran a 4:15.36/9:09.28 double. He had a big challenge from Patrick Bose from Johnston in the 3,200 (9:09.96).

In Class 3A, Joy Ripslinger pulled off a feat that even Shelby Houlihan didn’t attempt. Ripslinger showed her range and won every event from the 400 to the 3,000 meters -- the first ever to complete the quadruple in Iowa. She did her part to push Assumption toward the 3A girls team title, scoring 40 points. She won the 400 meters in 56.29, the 800 in US#20 2:09.39, the 1,500 in 4:39.00 and the 3,000 in 9:55.37.

For comparison sake, Houlihan swept the 400 (55.52), the 800 (2:08.15) and the 1,500 (4:29.97) in 2011. She also helped her Sioux City East team win the 4x400.

Keaton Kester of Adel-Desoto-Minburn swept the girls 100 (12.18) and 200 (24.72). Isaiah Trousil of West Burlington won the boys sprint finals with 10.74 and 21.22.

Iowa lineman recruit Tristan Wirfs of Mount Vernon/Lisbon won the 3A shot put (63-4.25) and discus (190-9) titles.

Anna Hostetler, a junior from Mid-Prairie, swept the Class 2A girls 800 (2:14.75), 1,500 (4:33.41) and 3,000 (9:47.52). Her freshman sister Marie was second in the 1,500 and 3,000.

Jared Brinkman of Regina threw 63-4 for the win in the 2A boys shot put.
